Hello:   Well, we have reached the mid point of our season. The games have been competitive and spirited. We've said good bye to some of our winter residents, it is always great to have them participating. The recent Board election didn't occur, due to 3 members, Dennis, Gary and Kim deciding to step away, we added Denna, Karl and JD. Looking forward to working together. The Hall Of Fame induction dinner was held on March 11th at the Lake Ashton Recreation Center in Lake Wales. This years hosts were 2 of last years inductees, Gerry DeRidder or Mike Cobb. The Lakeland Senior Softball Board of Directors met on March 12, 2026. The meeting was called to order at 11;15. Present were; Luke, Larry, Doug, Dennis, Pat and Greg. Absent were Cary and Kim. Also present were prospective Board members, Deanna, Karl and J.D. We are losing members, Dennis, Gary and Kim, due to terms expiring. The league thanks you for your service and support. The Polk Senior Games softball competition was held on Saturday, February 28th at Southwest Complex. Congratulations to the following teams: The Lakeland 70's team led by J. D. Davis captured the gold medal in the 70's division. Team Michigan, led by George Vanderhyde, captured the silver medal in the 70's division. The Blue Knights team from Winter Haven captured the gold medal in the 65's division. Great success for our local athletes!

Hello,              I hope this finds each of you doing well and coping with this cold weather. Well, the season has gotten off to a good start, each week there has been 5 teams. The rain and cold weather has stopped us from playing for a while. Highlands Avenue is back open, construction has moved to the North side of the road. I wish there was more to report. Hello and Happy New Year I hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas. As we start the new year, I hope it will be a good one. The league is doing well, but we can always use new players or get old ones to return. The road work at the entrance of the park will be ongoing for a while longer. The league 2026 season will start on January 5th, looking for it to be uneventful. I will be doing summaries of the weekly games. I haven't decided on what I want to put into it. Not much

Not too much to report, but we would like to welcome our part-time residents back. Please check the website for any possible important information. If you know of anyone that is age eligible to join our league, please invite them to come out. As a reminder of that, on needs to turn 55 years old during the the year you start play. Remember

Meeting minutes 10/27/25 Meeting opened at 11:30 am in Attendance: Luke, Kerry, Greg, Doug, Gary, Dennis, Kim, with Pat and Larry via telecon. Blue league shorts will be given to every player in good standing for the 2025 season. As of November 3rd, the courtesy foul will remain in effect for all league games. Membership fees for players 80 years old and older are now reduced to $20 per year. Meeting was adjourned at 12:05 pm.

Johnny "O" Ormsby, a past member of Lakeland Senior Softball, passed away on November 1st in Canada. He was 85 years old.
