BOD Meeting Minutes 12/30/2024
Meeting commenced at 9:00 am
Present: Kerry, Luke, Gary A., Dennis, Kim, Greg, Pat, Bob, and Larry.
League Financial Status:
December 31 concludes the League’s financial year. Treasurer Charlet reported we collected $6,315 from Sponsors and Players. Our expenses for the year totaled $7,055 which included purchasing new shirts and hats for 2025 season, shorts for dues paying players from 2024 season, along with purchasing softballs, liability insurance, player lunches, support of the Hall of Fame banquet and upgrades to our defib unit and equipment closet. This resulted in a net Cash Outflow of $740.
The League’s general goal is to collect enough funds to cover all expenses. However, the League has sufficient reserve funds to cover years that League expenses exceed money collected. Please see Treasurer Charlet if you want more information
Rule Changes:
Defensive Placement of Players:
There will be an outfield line and all outfielders must play behind the line until the batter makes contact with the ball. No batter may be thrown out at first base if the batted ball is first fielded by an outfielder. All infielders must maintain contact with the infield dirt until the batter makes contact with the ball. If either of these guidelines are not followed, the batter will automatically be awarded first base and all runners advance one base.
Infield Fly Rule:
We WILL NOT call any fly ball or pop-up an Infield Fly as used in most softball games. However, to avoid intentional drops or misplays, the fielding team can only register ONE OUT for any fly ball or pop-up on the infield or routinely handled by an infielder when they move a few steps into the outfield to catch a fly ball. If the ball is not fielded or is dropped, the first out registered by the defensive team, regardless of the base, will be the only out permitted on that play. The batter and any other runners will be entitled to their base. It is possible that NO outs will occur on the play if the defensive team is unable to record an out.
Batting:
Batting out of order will be enforced according to ASA rules. If a batter takes too long to enter the batter’s box, the umpire can call “Delay of Game” and penalize the batter a strike, meaning they are considered to be “In the Box” even if they have not fully stepped in.
League teams and rosters have changed. Check website for updates.
Monday, January 6, 2025 is opening day. Lunch will be served after the games.
Meeting concluded at 10:10 am
